Counselor in Training (CIT)

In addition to the general qualifications listed previously, the following apply specifically to the job of CIT

Are you a disciple of Christ who wants to grow in your relationship with him and your ability to serve him now and explore the possibility of being a camp counselor in the future? Then consider being a CIT at Baptist Park. This entry level position is intended to begin equipping teens for faithful service for Christ in their local church and the world, both now and in the future.


As a CIT you will:
  • Learn skills to safely and effectively oversee camper activities
  • Grow in your relationship with Christ through Biblical instruction and other discipleship opportunities
  • Learn how to share the gospel with others
  • Learn how to serve others in Christ’s name
  • Be involved in the exciting adventures of Christian camping
  • Upon completion of your first term as a CIT and with a favorable recommendation from supervising staff, position yourself for future employment at Baptist Park



Number of applicants to be accepted:  5-10. We reserve the right to accept or reject any or all applications.


Application must be postmarked by:  April 1 of year of service


Those accepted will be notified after May 1 of the year of service. 


Requirements (in addition to general qualifications listed earlier)

  • Must have completed 9th grade or turn 15 by December 31 of the year of service
  • Must have a favorable recommendation from your pastor
  • Must be a Baptist Park Camper for one week during the year of service and demonstrate potential leadership ability in that context
  • Must commit to at least 3 consecutive weeks of service (will receive $75 discount on camp registration as “pay”). This is in addition to the week spent as a camper.
  • Must be willing to learn in a class setting
  • Must be willing to live in an assigned cabin with campers (under supervision of the cabin Counselor) and be a positive influence in that context
  • Must be willing to serve performing light cleaning duties such as dishwashing, trash removal, bathroom cleaning, etc. 
  • May be asked to perform light maintenance duties such as painting, mowing, etc.
  • May receive training in worship leadership and be asked to serve in that capacity



Pay: $75 discount on one week camp registration, free room and board, training & other camp experiences, staff tee shirt
